History of Saint Ignatios of Antioch Melkite-Greek Catholic Church
The parish began in 1980 through a chance encounter between an Episcopal priest and a Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic. Services were held at Fort Gordon and later at the Roman Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity. The name honors St. Ignatios of Antioch. The parish was formally established with the help of Melkite clergy, including Archimandrite William Haddad and Archimandrite Charles Aboody. The parish has nurtured four deacons and welcomed priests including Fr. Daniel Munn (first pastor), Fr. Miguel Grave De Peralta, Fr. Damian Higgins, and Fr. Michael Hull (who passed in 2019). Fr. Michael Skrocki became pastor in 2019.
Our Iconography
The church’s iconography was entirely adorned by Mila Mina, a Romanian iconographer from Southern California, who brought a unique and rich artistic vision to the parish.
