About St. Dominic Catholic Church

St. Dominic Catholic Church is the largest parish in the Diocese of Colorado Springs, serving the Fountain Valley (Security, Widefield, and Fountain). The parish was born from the 2008 merger of Holy Family Parish in Security and St. Joseph Parish in Fountain and was dedicated on March 16, 2010. The community is bilingual (English and Spanish), Eucharistic in identity, and guided by the Latin motto "Soli Deo Gloria — For the Glory of God Alone."

From the parish's own words: "We, the people of God, members of St. Dominic Parish guided by the teachings of the Holy Roman Catholic Church reaffirm our commitment to be a truly Eucharistic Community; nurtured by the Word of God and the Body and Blood of Christ. United in Christ, we are dedicated to ministering to one another and to all God's children through public worship, personal prayer, stewardship, education formation and youth and social ministries."

History of the Parish

St. Dominic's roots trace back to 1957, when the Archdiocese of Denver established Holy Family Parish in Security and named Fr. Joseph Leberer its first pastor. Early Masses were celebrated in a funeral home chapel, in parishioner homes, and in the Widefield High School gymnasium. The parish grew through the 1960s and 70s, added an education center (1967), a rectory (1968), and renovated its worship space (1975). In 1995 Holy Family opened the Precious Blood of Jesus Chapel — the first perpetual adoration chapel in the Diocese of Colorado Springs.

• 1968 — Rectory built; former rectory converted to Maryknoll convent

• 2002 — Bishop Hanifen visits Nick and Bambi Venetucci, who donate land
• 2004 — Bishop Michael Sheridan blesses the land (May 9, 2004)
• 2007 — Groundbreaking on July 7, 2007
• 2008 — Holy Family and St. Joseph parishes merge into St. Dominic on Nov. 30, 2008
• 2010 — Church officially dedicated March 16, 2010

The parish team is led by Fr. Ricardo Rosales and four deacons, supported by a Business Manager, Sacramental Recorder, Administrative Assistant, Faith Formation Coordinator (Kathy Thilenius), Social Ministry Coordinator (Ana Martinez), and Music Ministry Director (Terrie Pamperin). Religious Education & Sacramental Preparation

The Religious Education program is designed for lifelong Catholic faith formation, running continuously from Kindergarten through the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. The parish emphasizes that it is not just for sacramental reception and provides bilingual support.

Sacraments

The parish celebrates and prepares parishioners for all the usual Catholic sacraments, including Infant Baptism, First Communion and First Reconciliation, Confirmation, Marriage, Anointing/Pastoral Care of the Sick, and Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).
