St. Christopher Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish in Grandview Heights, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, within the Diocese of Columbus. Founded in January 1947 by Bishop Michael J. Ready as the 28th parish in Greater Columbus, it serves the area east of Ashland Avenue bounded by the Olentangy River, Dublin Road, Northwest Boulevard, and Guilford and Kinnear Roads. The parish is notable for its bilingual liturgical life (English and Polish) and its landmark 1961 modernist church building at 1420 Grandview Avenue, designed so Mass could be celebrated facing the people and adorned with 34-foot limestone bas-reliefs of the patron saint by sculptor William J. Parish History
St. Christopher was established in 1947 as the 28th parish in Greater Columbus, carved out of territory bordered by the Olentangy River, Dublin Road, Northwest Boulevard, and Guilford/Kinnear Roads and placed under founding pastor Rev. Albert E. Culliton. The first Mass was offered February 9, 1947 in the John Quint Funeral Home, then the Grandview Theatre, before the parish school opened in 1948. The present church, dedicated in 1961, was the first modernist church in the Diocese of Columbus and is celebrated for its stone-and-glass construction and 34-foot limestone bas-relief façade sculpted by William J. Thompson.
Worship & Liturgical Schedule
The parish celebrates Mass in both English and Polish, with daily afternoon Mass Monday–Friday at 4:00 PM, a Saturday Vigil at 4:30 PM, and three Sunday Masses at 10:00 AM (English), 12:00 PM (Polish), and 6:00 PM (Contemporary English). Confessions are heard every day of the week, and Eucharistic Adoration is offered Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM until the 4:00 PM Mass.

Sacramental Life
Beyond Mass and daily Adoration, the parish offers regular Confession seven days a week (including a half-hour window before each Sunday Mass and daily before weekday Mass) and welcomes appointments for additional confession. Sacramental preparation for Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage is coordinated through the parish office, and school-age preparation is provided through St. Christopher Catholic School.

Music Ministry
Music Ministry is led by Music Director Scot Ashton ([email protected]). The 6:00 PM Sunday Mass is a Contemporary Mass featuring a Contemporary Christian Music ensemble, while traditional choral music supports the other weekend liturgies. The parish's restored Peebles-Herzog pipe organ, originally installed in the First Baptist Church on East Broad Street, anchors the music program after its 2005 donation and 2010s-era volunteer-led renovation.

Parish Life & Fellowship

St. Christopher Catholic School
Founded alongside the parish in 1948, St. Christopher School today serves about 168 students from pre-K through 8th grade, with an average of 18.7 students per grade. After merging with Our Lady of Victory and St. Margaret of Cortona schools as Trinity Catholic School in 1977/1979, the school reverted to the St. Christopher Catholic School name effective July 1, 2024 under the diocesan strategic plan 'Real Presence, Real Future.' The school is led by Principal Angie Eisenacher and pastor Father Andrew (Andrzej) Kozminski, and shares the Grandview Avenue campus with the parish church.

The parish is staffed by Pallottine Fathers (Society of the Catholic Apostolate). Rev. Andrzej Koźmiński, SAC served as pastor from July 11, 2023 until his transfer out of the diocese effective July 14, 2026. Rev. Michał Wojciak, SAC (previously Chaplain at St. Charles Preparatory School) was appointed Pastor effective July 14, 2026. The founding pastor was Rev. Albert E. Culliton (1947–1960); Msgr. John Cody also served the parish and was pastor when the pipe organ arrived in 2005.

Architecture & Art
The 1961 church was the first modernistic church built in the Diocese of Columbus. Constructed of stone, steel, and glass with great arches focusing attention on the altar, it was designed versus populum and seats 700. A three-bell open tower rises above the entrance, and 34-foot limestone bas-reliefs by William J. Thompson dramatize episodes from the life of St. Christopher.
