Parish Identity & Patron

St. Ann Catholic Church takes its name from Saint Anne (often called St. Ann), the traditional mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus Christ. Saint Anne is widely venerated as the patron saint of mothers, grandmothers, and pregnant women. The parish's feast day honoring its patron is observed on July 26, the traditional Roman calendar memorial of Saint Anne. The parish takes its mission of fostering family faith seriously, serving a tri-lingual community in northeast Texas.

History & Founding

The Catholic community that would become St. Ann Parish was first established in 1984 in Winnsboro, Texas, under the care of the Diocese of Tyler. For nearly two decades it operated as a Catholic mission, building up a congregation drawn from Winnsboro and surrounding Wood County. On February 27, 2001, the community was formally canonically erected as a parish, marking a new chapter in its institutional life. The parish continues to minister from its location on the west side of Winnsboro along FM 515.
