About St. Andrew Parish
Saint Andrew Parish is a Roman Catholic community of more than 2,000 families located in the Upper Arlington area of Columbus, Ohio. The parish sits within the Diocese of Columbus at 1899 McCoy Road and is recognized within the diocese as a parish of leadership and distinction. At the heart of parish life is the daily celebration of the Mass — offered twice each weekday morning (6:30 and 8:30 a.m.), on Saturday at 9:00 a.m., and at four weekend Masses (Saturday Vigil 4:30 p.m.; Sunday 7:30, 9:15 and 11:00 a.m.). From the Eucharist, parishioners grow as disciples of Christ and build up the Body of Christ through faith formation, charity, and community.
History of St. Andrew Parish
St. Andrew was canonically established on June 17, 1955, by Bishop Michael J. Ready, with Fr. Michael Andrew Nugent appointed founding pastor. The first 250 families worshipped at the old Fishinger Road School until April 1956, when ground was broken for a new church and four-classroom school near Reed and McCoy Roads. The complex opened in time for the September 1956 school year with 140 students taught by four Sisters of St. Joseph from Baden, Pennsylvania. Over the decades the campus grew to include a convent, rectory, multi-purpose center (1979), media center, expanded school wings, a new church dedicated June 7, 1998 by Bishop James Griffin, the Bryce Eck Activity Center (2005–2006), and a renovated school (2013).

St. Andrew, Our Patron Saint
The parish is named for St. Andrew the Apostle, brother of Simon Peter, the fisherman called by Jesus to be the first of his disciples ('the First-Called'). Andrew is also the patron of fishermen, of Scotland, and of several other nations; he is traditionally said to have been crucified on an X-shaped cross. The parish celebrates his feast day on November 30.
Faith Formation & Education
Faith formation at St. Andrew spans the whole life of the parish, from early childhood through adulthood. St. Andrew Preschool introduces young children to a classroom setting in the spirit of Jesus the Good Shepherd. St. Andrew School (K–8) promotes spiritual growth and academic rigor, with full-time teachers in physical education, music, art, computer technology, and Latin in the upper grades. The Parish School of Religion (PSR) welcomes public-school students in grades 1–8 on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m.

Devotions & Prayer Life
Beyond the Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, the parish maintains a rich devotional life. The Rosary for Life is prayed each Saturday at 8:30 a.m. before the 9:00 a.m. Mass, followed by the Divine Mercy Chaplet after Mass. On the First Saturday of each month, the Knights of Columbus lead these prayers; on the other Saturdays, the women of the parish lead them. The parish also offers the Anointing of the Sick upon request and Spiritual Adoption prayers for the unborn.

Sacraments
St. Andrew Parish prepares parishioners for and celebrates all seven sacraments. Daily and Sunday Masses form the heart of parish life. Confessions are heard Saturday afternoons and by appointment. The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) process welcomes new Catholics and returning Catholics, while the Parish School of Religion and St. Andrew School prepare children for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. Weddings, baptisms, and the Anointing of the Sick are arranged through the Parish Office.

Founding pastor; appointed by Bishop Michael J. Ready when parish was canonically established June 17, 1955. Oversaw original 1956 church/school construction, school expansions, convent, and rectory. Parish grew from 250 to 1,200 families during his 14-year pastorate. Died June 30, 2009, at age 92.

Second pastor. Built multi-purpose center and media center (1979); extended rectory/office (1988); converted portion of convent to art room and computer lab (1991).

Third pastor. Succeeded Msgr. Schulz in July 1992 when parish had grown to about 2,200 families. Initiated the construction of the present church; groundbreaking March 17, 1996.

Fourth pastor. Oversaw completion of the new church, which was dedicated June 7, 1998 by Bishop James Griffin. Shepherded renovation of former church into school classroom space. The parish's 50th anniversary was observed in 2005 under his tenure, and the Bryce Eck Activity Center was acquired in 2005 and renovated in 2006.
