History of the Nambe Mission
The mission at Nambe dates to the 1790s and sits within a wider Catholic history in the valley that goes back to the early 1600s, when Spanish missions were established in Nambe, Pojoaque, and Tesuque. The church burned down during Holy Week of 1946 and was rebuilt with the help of the local community. The rebuilt church has stood ever since as a spiritual and cultural landmark, drawing artists and pilgrims alike.
