Devotions and Special Liturgies
In addition to regular Masses, La Sagrada Familia hosts a robust devotional life. The Renovación Carismática meets every Friday evening, and on the first Friday of each month the community gathers for a Vigil of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 6:30 PM. On the third Friday, the 6:30 PM liturgy is a Misa de los enfermos y sanación — a Mass for the sick with the Anointing of the Sick, a treasured devotion for Hispanic Catholics.

Parish History and West Side Hispanic Roots
Sagrada Familia was established in 1997 to respond to the pastoral needs of Cleveland's growing Hispanic population on the west side. From its start it has gathered a largely Spanish-speaking community while keeping an English presence — a bilingual character reflected in its Sunday schedule even today. Over the years the parish has become one of three anchor Hispanic parishes on the west side (alongside St. Colman and St. Michael the Archangel), linked by the annual Good Friday Procession that forms at La Sagrada Familia and proceeds to the others. The parish was also a community hub during the COVID-19 pandemic, hosting a pop-up vaccination site in early 2021.

Holy Week Carpets of Holy Week (Alfombras de Semana Santa)
One of La Sagrada Familia's most distinctive traditions is the Alfombras de Semana Santa — intricately designed sawdust carpets laid out across the floor of the parish hall over Holy Week. Thirty panels are typically assembled beginning on Palm Sunday and finished by Holy Thursday, then walked over by clergy and faithful during the Good Friday Procession. Retired Father Rob Reidy, who served at the diocesan mission in El Salvador and ministered at both Sagrada Familia and Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain, was instrumental in establishing this tradition at both parishes roughly three decades ago. Diocesan reporters noted Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost leading the 50th annual Good Friday Procession that begins at Sagrada Familia.

Faith Formation and Catechesis
La Sagrada Familia runs catechetical programs for both children and adults in Spanish, with pre-baptismal classes required before a child's baptism. The parish also serves as a gathering place for diocesan Hispanic catechist formation; in August 2021 it hosted more than 140 Hispanic catechists and families for the annual retreat, with Bishop Edward Malesic celebrating the opening Mass alongside the parish's pastor and other concelebrants.

More than sixteen parish groups give every member of the family a way to belong. Marian associations include the Asociación Guadalupana, Madre de la Altagracia, and Madre de la Providencia; the Hermands de los Cargadores of Cristo de los Milagros carry the image of Christ of the Miracles. Spiritual-movement groups include Cursillos de Cristiandad, Fe y Luz (for families with disabilities), Renovación Carismática, and Juan XXIII. Service organizations include the Holy Name Society and the Sociedad del Altar (Altar Society).

Outreach: San Martín Food Pantry
La Sagrada Familia operates the Food Pantry "San Martín" as a concrete ministry of social justice and hospitality.
