About Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary

Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary is a small rural Catholic parish in the Town of Scott, near Crescent Lake just outside Webster, Wisconsin — the lakes country of northwestern Burnett County. Founded in 1857, it belongs to the Diocese of Superior and is one of the oldest parishes in the diocese. Today the parish is part of a three-parish Catholic community that also includes St. John the Baptist in Webster and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Danbury, known collectively as the Webster Area Catholic Tri-Parish.

History

Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary was established in 1857 in the early Catholic settlement of Crescent Lake, placing it among the very first Catholic communities in what would become the Diocese of Superior. Through the generations it served scattered Catholic families around Crescent Lake and lower Burnett County. In more recent decades the parish has joined with the nearby parishes of St. John the Baptist in Webster (1880) and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Danbury (1920) to form the Tri-Parish Family — a single mission community that shares clergy, staff, bulletins, faith formation and pastoral council across the three physical churches.

  • 1857 — parish founded at Crescent Lake settlement (Diocese of Superior founding-dates list)
  • 1880 — neighboring St. John the Baptist in Webster founded
  • 1920 — neighboring Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Danbury founded
  • Tri-Parish era — Sacred Hearts begins sharing clergy, staff and faith formation with the two sister parishes

Tri-Parish Family & Mission

Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, St. John the Baptist (Webster) and Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Danbury) together form the 'Webster Area Catholic Tri-Parish.' As partners in faith, we witness our love of God through liturgy, social outreach, and lifelong faith formation. We embrace the spirituality of our Tri-Parish, which challenges us to be people of unity, peace and love.' The three parishes share one office, one Faith Formation program, one Pastoral Council and one bulletin.
