Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary is a Catholic parish serving the small, close-knit plantation town of Lanai City on the island of Lanaʻi, Hawaii. Parish Identity & Mission
Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary is the Catholic faith community of Lanai City, Lanaʻi, in the Diocese of Honolulu. Its published mission statement declares: "We, the community of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, declare Christ's mission as our own. We joyfully dedicate ourselves to become the presence of God in the community; that through our words and actions, the Gospel of Jesus will be proclaimed to all!" The parish commits to extending itself to others inside and outside the community, celebrating faith through liturgies and activities that meet diverse needs, living Christian values through service and responsible stewardship, and challenging one another to continued spiritual renewal.

History & Heritage
The parish descends from the 1827 arrival in Hawaii of six missionaries of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SS.CC.), sent at the request of Pope Leo XII. Over the following century the SS.CC. Fathers and Brothers established parishes across the Islands, and Sacred Hearts, Lanai City is one of those legacy parishes, serving Lanaʻi's plantation town of Lanai City. The parish is incorporated under its present canonical name and is recognized in the Diocese of Honolulu's list of parishes. In 2016 it was named one of the diocese's official Jubilee Churches for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy.

Liturgical & Music Ministry
Liturgy is coordinated by Virginia Sumagit (with Deacon Henry Costales serving as Liturgical Coordinator on the Pastoral Council), and music is led by Nora Etrata as Music Minister. The parish celebrates the seasons with full schedules for Advent (Misa de Gallo/Simbang Gabi), Lent (Stations of the Cross), and Holy Week, alongside seasonal devotions and parish feasts. Choir and music volunteers serve every weekend Mass.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
Religious Education is coordinated by Eva Batoon. The parish runs faith-formation programming for children and youth, including preparation for First Communion and Confirmation, as well as a separate Youth & Young Adult Ministry track. Adult faith enrichment is offered through the Adult Ministry team led by Joe and Priscilla Felipe, and the parish hosted a 2025 Jubilee Year of Study, building on the diocese's 2025 Jubilee Day Study program.

Social Ministry & Food Pantry
Outreach on Lanaʻi centers on the parish's Social Ministry (led by Jessie Myers) and its Food Pantry (coordinated by Divina Costales). In solidarity with neighbors across Maui County the parish also served as a donation point after the August 2023 Maui wildfires, distributing a letter from the parish to encourage contributions for relief.
