Sacred Heart Catholic Church exists to fulfill Christ's mandate by being a family that reaches out to share the love of God with everyone. The parish's mission statement is drawn from Deuteronomy 6: 'We should love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our soul, and with all our strength. And we shall love our neighbor as we love ourselves.' Parish History
From its first Mass on October 5, 1903 in a former Presbyterian building at Third and Webb streets, through its 1941 move to the former First Methodist Church at Second and Oronogo streets, to its current home on North Madison Avenue dedicated in 1982, Sacred Heart has grown with the Webb City area. The parish has been served by more than 20 pastors since Father Francis J. Tief became its first resident pastor in 1908, and has welcomed both Hispanic and Vietnamese Catholic communities in recent decades. The parish marked its centennial in 2003 during Father Joseph Than Van Liem's pastorate.

Sacraments & Sacramental Preparation
The parish celebrates the seven Catholic sacraments and welcomes parishioners and visitors to prepare for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, and Anointing of the Sick. Marriage preparation must begin at least six months in advance.

Faith Formation: Parish School of Religion (PSR)
Sacred Heart's Parish School of Religion assists parents in their role as primary catechists of their children, providing formal religious instruction and preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Classes for grades K–6 meet Wednesday afternoons during the school year, with two time options. Coordinator: Mary Poage.

Youth of Sacred Heart (YOSH)
YOSH ministers to young people in grades 7–12 with fun, games, spiritual growth, activities, and trips throughout the year. It is also responsible for preparing high school students for the Sacrament of Confirmation, typically administered every two years. Contact: Mike Wilson.

OCIA — Christian Initiation of Adults
Adults preparing for full communion with the Catholic Church are welcomed through the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, formerly RCIA) program. The parish also works to ensure ongoing adult faith formation through Sunday homilies, devotionals, and parish missions.

Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW)
Reestablished in 2014, the Parish Council of Catholic Women supports Sacred Heart with the time, talent, and treasure of its members. PCCW is one of the parish's most visible service organizations and is active year-round — from its biggest fundraiser to its most behind-the-scenes work at funeral dinners.

Knights of Columbus — Don Roderique Council
Sacred Heart's local Knights of Columbus council was chartered in 1979 with 30 charter members and named for parishioner Don Roderique. As part of the worldwide Catholic fraternal organization with more than 14,000 councils and 1.8 million members, the local council supports the parish through fundraising, monthly breakfasts, and service to youth and community programs.

Sacred Heart operates a parish Food Pantry that serves families in need from across the Webb City area. The pantry distributes food during scheduled hours and welcomes donations from parishioners and community members.

Parish Council & Finance Council
Sacred Heart is governed with the help of two consultative bodies: the Parish Council, which assists the pastor with the pastoral plan and overall vision for the parish, and the Finance Council, which oversees the parish's annual budget, financial reporting, and stewardship of resources.

Hispanic & Vietnamese Ministry
From the pastorate of Father Miller onward, Sacred Heart has welcomed Hispanic and Vietnamese Catholic communities. Today the parish offers a weekly Spanish-language Sunday Mass and ongoing sacramental preparation in Spanish, with Marbellie Villanueva serving as the parish Spanish contact. Past Hispanic pastoral ministers include Sister Francine Koehler, S.S.N.D. (1997) and Sister María de Jesús Valdez, MRF.

Facilities: Church, Prayer Garden & Office
The current church, rectory, and grounds at 909 N. Madison Avenue are the parish's third home, built in 1980–82. The parish grounds also include a Prayer Garden, parts of which honor former pastors and benefactors.
