History of Sacred Heart Parish
Sacred Heart parish traces its origins to the early growth of Valley Park as an industrial community along the Meramec River. Land for the church was donated by the Valley Park Land Company in 1904, and a remarkable amount of the construction funding came from deductions taken out of the paychecks of parishioners who worked in local factories — making the present church very much a community effort. The Romanesque-style church was built in 1907–1908 and remains the visual focus of the town, with one of the tallest spires in St. Louis County, given added emphasis by its hillside setting.

Faith Formation and Religious Education
Sacred Heart partners with parents as the primary catechists of their children. The Parish School of Religion (PSR) serves children in grades 1 through 8 who attend public or non-Catholic private school, meeting Monday or Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Education Center. Sacramental Preparation is offered for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation. The parish also runs an RCIA process adapted for children (RCIA for Children) and a week-long Vacation Bible School each summer for children ages three through grade 4.

Sacred Heart Catholic School
Sacred Heart Catholic School, located at 12 Ann Avenue adjacent to the church, has been educating children in Valley Park for more than 100 years. The school serves preschool (3's and 4's) through grade 8, staffed by certified and dedicated professionals committed to academic excellence and faith formation. Sacraments and Liturgy
Sacred Heart celebrates all seven Catholic sacraments: Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist), Healing (Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick), and Vocation (Marriage, Holy Orders). All weekend and weekday liturgies feature organ or instrumental music with a cantor or choir, both boys and girls assisting at the altar as servers, lay lectors proclaiming the Word, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assisting with distribution. Parish Council and Commissions
Sacred Heart's Parish Council provides the coordinating and unifying structure of the parish community. Its ministry is to advise, support, and encourage the Pastor and pastoral staff. Four commissions oversee all parish ministries: Administrative, Worship, Service, and Formation. Each commission is represented on the council by two parishioners, with two additional at-large members.

Sacred Heart is home to Knights of Columbus Council 8887. The council meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Saint Anthony Room. Sacred Heart's Youth Ministry serves the parish's middle school and high school students, coordinated by Carrie Carroll. Programming is rooted in helping young people grow in a personal relationship with Jesus and serve Him in mission, complementing the parish's PSR and sacramental preparation offerings.
