History
El Corazon Sagrado de la Iglesia de Jesus (Sacred Heart of the Church of Jesus) was completed in 1915 using sun-dried adobe bricks made by citizens of Ruidosa under Father Mariano. Designed by Father Manuel Cuadrado, it features a frontier-style church floor plan with pyramidal-roofed towers and large interior adobe arches believed to be the largest traditional adobe arches in Texas.

Restoration Efforts
After decades of decline, restoration efforts began in 2004 with funding from Texas Historical Commission, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Presidio County Historical Commission. Work included stabilization, partial restoration, re-grading for drainage, replacing eroded adobes, adding a corrugated metal roof, mud plastering exterior walls, restoring arches, and partially rebuilding the left tower.
