Parish Identity & History
Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Pineville, Louisiana, was established in 1933 as a Catholic community of faith under the Diocese of Alexandria. Over nine decades, the parish has built a recognizable campus on Lakeview Street that includes the church, rectory, Community Center, and the former school site (now a Head Start program operated by Save the Children). The parish's patron, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, is celebrated each June around the Solemnity with a parish meal and fellowship.

Sacred Heart offers twelve Masses a week, anchored by a Saturday vigil and three Sunday Masses plus a daily 7:00 am Mass Monday through Friday. Faith Formation: CCD, OCIA & Bible Study
Sacred Heart runs a robust slate of formation programs for children, youth, and adults. The parish operates year after year in a simple rhythm: register in the parish and show up. Children attend weekly CCD on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm, sharing the night with the parish meal and a community meal in the Activities Building. Adults can join OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) on Thursday nights in the Community Center.

Youth & Children's Music
Children and teens have a clear place in parish life at Sacred Heart. The Children's Choir welcomes all children; it rehearses Wednesday evenings and sings at Mass on the fourth Sunday of each month. The Youth Group meets on a variable schedule through the year and is currently coordinated by Eric and Erica Mayeux, with parish support from the Mayeux family and Carla Rachal and Dawn Parker.

Parish Outreach: Thrift Store, Food Pantry & Charity
Sacred Heart's outreach to "the least, the last, and the lost" is a defining part of its identity. The St. Nicholas Thrift Store, founded in 1971 by parishioner volunteers and housed in a purpose-built building on Lakeview Street since 1986, provides clothing and household items to neighbors in need with a dignified shopping experience. The Sacred Heart Food Pantry, which began in the rectory laundry room, moved in 2018 into a purpose-built pantry and dock at the rear of the church with level access from the reception area, allowing volunteers to safely and efficiently distribute groceries — including non-cook food bags for the homeless — twice a month.
