History of Sacred Heart, Littlefield
The parish was established in 1921, making it the first Catholic parish in the territory that would eventually become the Diocese of Lubbock — it appears at the top of the diocesan founding timeline, before St. Alice in Plainview (1911/1928) and well before the Diocese of Amarillo was erected in 1926. It was originally part of the Diocese of Dallas, then the Diocese of Amarillo, and finally came under the Diocese of Lubbock when it was created on June 17, 1983. The parish has continued without interruption as a worshipping community for more than a century.

Parish Staff & Clergy
The pastoral team is led by Rev. Jeffrey Church, who was assigned as pastor on July 1, 2024, and is assisted by two permanent deacons: Deacon Juan Cavazos and Senior Deacon Richard Flores. The parish office is staffed Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm by secretary Christina Gomez, who also coordinates the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) program. Faith Formation & Youth Ministry
Sacred Heart runs a comprehensive formation program organized around the diocesan Whole Family Faith Formation (WFFF) model. A team of three Parish Catechetical Leaders (PCLs) and Youth Leaders (YLs) — Marisela Miranda, Pedro Juarez Jr., and April Juarez — walk children, youth, and adults through Catholic discipleship. Christina Gomez coordinates OCIA (the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, formerly RCIA) for those preparing to enter the Church at Easter.
