History
Sacred Heart Parish was founded in 1871 during the expansion of Catholic ministry in Mississippi under the Diocese of Natchez. It was founded during a period when the diocese was actively establishing parishes across the state, and it has continued serving the faithful of Louisville for more than 150 years. A 13-page parish history covering 1871 through 1987 was published in the Mississippi Today newspaper and later archived in the University of Notre Dame's Parish Histories Collection.

Father George is also the pastor of Holy Cross Parish in Philadelphia, Mississippi, roughly 30 miles south of Louisville. He was originally appointed to Holy Cross and assigned sacramental ministry to Sacred Heart as part of the Diocese of Jackson's pastoral assignments announced in 2023.

The parish is located at 630 N. Spring Avenue in Louisville, the county seat of Winston County. It is approximately 3½ blocks north of Main Street (Mississippi Highway 14). Visitors coming from the Highway 15-25 bypass should take the Louisville exit onto Highway 14 (Main Street), turn left at the first traffic light onto Spring Street, and continue three and a half blocks to the church.
