East Grand Forks is situated in northwest Minnesota along the border of North Dakota and the Red River of the North. The parish was founded in 1893 and has played a central role in building Catholic faith in the area, especially through its founding and support of Sacred Heart School, established in 1912. The school is unique because it is a combined elementary and high school program supported by a single parish, unlike most American Catholic high schools today, which are supported by multiple parishes.
