Sacred Heart Parish in Abingdon, Illinois, is part of a larger merger plan within the Diocese of Peoria, set to consolidate with St. Augustine Parish in St. Augustine and St. Bernard Parish in Bushnell into a single parish with St. Augustine as the primary worship site. Sacred Heart will eventually cease active use. The parish is currently under the pastoral care of Fr. Eugene Radosevich, who will serve as pastor effective July 1, 2024. Masses continue at the current sites during the transition period. The parish offers ministries for women and men, and is part of the Galesburg Catholic Community, which includes Costa Catholic Academy and multiple worship sites across the region.

Growing Disciples
The Diocese of Peoria is implementing a pastoral plan to merge parishes. Sacred Heart in Abingdon will be merged with St. Augustine and St. Bernard in Bushnell, with St. Augustine as the primary worship site. The process is expected to be completed over the next 12 months. Masses will continue during the transition. Fr. Eugene Radosevich will become pastor of Sacred Heart in Abingdon, effective July 1, 2024.
Worship
Masses are held at multiple campuses: St. Patrick (Sundays 7:30 AM), Corpus Christi (Sundays 9:00 AM), Immaculate Heart of Mary (Sundays 11:00 AM, Saturdays 4:00 PM, Mondays and Fridays 8:15 AM), and St. Patrick (Wednesdays and Saturdays 8:00 AM). Daily Masses are also held at Corpus Christi (Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:10 PM). Eucharistic Adoration is offered Wednesdays, 8:30 AM–10:00 AM.
Ministries
The parish offers active ministries for women and men, including St. Vincent de Paul. These ministries support parishioners in serving the community and deepening their faith.
