Parish History
Resurrection was established in 1969 by Bishop Mardaga of the Diocese of Wilmington, with Rev. Francis J. Herron as founding pastor. It was created from territory between St. John the Beloved Parish and St. John the Baptist / Holy Angels Parish, and members of those parishes were given the choice to join. Father Herron's Vatican II-inspired vision emphasized parents' role as the primary educators of their children in faith. For the first two years the community worshipped at Shue School (nicknamed 'St. Shue'), then moved to St. Mark's High School auditorium for ten years. A permanent multi-purpose center was built in 1984 and expanded in 1996 to include the current worship space and a small daily chapel. The parish marked its 40th anniversary in 2009.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
The parish's Christian Formation Program (CFP) is the umbrella for its religious education across the lifespan, continuing the founding vision of parent-led catechesis.
