Parish History
Resurrection Catholic Church was founded in 1983 in Riverview, Florida, and has grown into one of the bilingual hubs of the Diocese of Saint Petersburg's Hillsborough deanery. Its first long-tenured pastor was Monsignor Antonio P. Diez, who shepherded the parish for 28 years and built deep roots in the community. He was succeeded in 2011 by Father Eugene 'Eugeniusz' Gancarz, a Polish-born priest who had served 21 years in Argentina and is fluent in seven languages. In July 2021, Rev. Daniel 'Dan' Kayajan — formerly of the Congregation of Holy Cross, U.S. Province, with missionary experience in Peru and Mexico — was incardinated into the Diocese of St. Petersburg and installed as pastor the same day. The parish community has celebrated milestones such as a 40th Anniversary event around 2023.
