Parish History
Resurrection of Our Lord was created on July 1, 2000 through the merger of Most Pure Heart of Mary Parish and Saint Anthony of Padua Parish, both of which had served Savannah's Black Catholic community for more than ninety years. Both parishes traced their roots to Father Ignatius Lissner, SMA, a French-born missionary who came to Savannah in 1907.

Clergy & Staff
The parish is pastored by Father Robert E. Chaney, who also serves as the Diocese of Savannah's Director of Black Catholic Ministry. Father Chaney was the first Black Catholic priest ordained for the Diocese of Savannah, in 1988, and is a Savannah native who attended St. Benedict the Moor, Blessed Sacrament, and Benedictine Military School before studying at Savannah State University and seminaries of St. John Vianney and St. Vincent de Paul.

Mass & Worship Schedule
Resurrection of Our Lord celebrates Sunday Mass at 10:00 AM and offers weekday Mass Monday through Thursday at 8:30 AM. Black Catholic Ministry
Resurrection of Our Lord serves as the host parish for the Diocese of Savannah's Office of Black Catholic Ministry, which assists the bishop in facilitating the participation of Black Catholics in South Georgia in the mission of the Church. The office sponsors an annual Day of Reflection at one parish in the diocese as a prelude to sending a delegation to the National Black Catholic Congress. November is observed as Black Catholic History Month.
