Resurrection Parish is a Roman Catholic parish in Cheektowaga, New York, founded on January 1, 1944, by Bishop John A. Duffy to serve the growing population of factory workers and their families in the southern part of the town. The parish is one of four churches in the Catholic Family of Cheektowaga, working alongside Our Lady Help of Christians, St. Josaphat, and Queen of Martyrs, and it is part of the Diocese of Buffalo's Road to Renewal pastoral initiative. History of Resurrection Parish
Established January 1, 1944, by Bishop John A. Duffy, with Rev. James A. Wroblewski as founding pastor, the parish grew quickly out of wartime Cheektowaga. A first Mass was celebrated in the Connor's home on Bellevue Boulevard, the church was built with bricks bought by parishioners at a dime apiece, and Resurrection School opened in 1947 with 54 children. Successive pastors expanded the school, built a new church (blessed under Bishop McNulty, 1968) and a parish center named for Msgr. Malikowski, and celebrated the parish's 50th anniversary in 1994.

Resurrection Parish School
Resurrection Parish School opened on September 7, 1947, with an enrollment of 54 children and was staffed from the beginning by the Felician Sisters. A second story was added in September 1948, and the first class of eight students graduated on June 25, 1950. The first principal, Sister Maxentia Czop, served from September 1947 until June 1953, and the Felician tradition continued for decades — a major pillar of the parish's identity through the late 20th century.

Parish Ministries and Outreach
Resurrection continues to call parishioners into lay ministry: ushers, lectors, and Eucharistic ministers are actively recruited, with sign-up forms at all church entrances. Extraordinary Ministers bring Holy Communion to the homebound, and a team of Counters assists with the weekly collection. Adult altar servers are also being trained to serve at funerals, and the parish has historically supported a deaf ministry begun under Fr. Conrad Stachowiak. Through the Catholic Family of Cheektowaga, Resurrection parishioners also help staff the St. Josaphat Food Pantry (Saturdays 9:00 am – 2:00 pm).

Sacraments
Resurrection celebrates the seven sacraments in cooperation with the Catholic Family of Cheektowaga. Baptisms are normally held on Sundays during or after Mass; couples must give at least six months' notice for marriage; the Anointing of the Sick is offered weekly after the Tuesday noon Mass; and priests are on call for emergencies at 716-598-0357.
