History and Founding
Regis College was founded in 1927 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston on the 167-acre Morrison Estate in Weston, after the order's 50-plus years of running Catholic schools across the Boston area. Initially chartered on May 27, 1927, the school opened on September 21, 1927 with 55 students. The original Morrison mansion (built 1888–1889) served as chapel, classrooms, and dormitory until College Hall — the campus's first new building — was completed in fall 1929; a 1930 wing added a gymnasium, the chapel, and the home economics department. The chapel within College Hall has remained the heart of Catholic worship at Regis for nearly a century, now serving a co-educational community of about 2,500 students.

Sacraments and Sacramental Preparation
Beyond the Sunday Eucharist, the Center for Ministry and Service runs the Exploring Faith and Sacramental Preparation Group for Regis students, faculty, and staff who want to investigate the Catholic faith or who missed celebrating one of the sacraments of initiation. Participants meet weekly for group discussion and learning and in one-on-one sessions with a campus minister; each participant's journey may lead to preparing for Baptism, Confirmation, or First Eucharist.

Staff and Leadership
Catholic and multi-faith ministry at Regis is led by the Center for Mission, Ministry, and Service (formerly the Center for Ministry and Service / Campus Ministry), housed in St. Joseph Hall. In May 2023 the college announced new appointments elevating Daniel P. Leahy to Associate Vice President for Mission, Ministry, and Service and Mary Lou Bozza to Director of Mission, Ministry, and Service. Fr. Paul Kilroy continues as College Chaplain and primary celebrant of the Sunday liturgy.

Service and Outreach
True to the Sisters of St. Joseph's mission of serving the 'dear neighbor without distinction,' the Center for Ministry and Service organizes ongoing local service opportunities and an annual Service Immersion Program that sends Regis students to serve and learn in communities across the United States and abroad. Trip participants complete a one-credit co-curricular course, attend weekly meetings beginning in the fall semester, and fundraise to support travel.

Buildings and Spaces
The chapel sits inside College Hall, the first new academic building on campus and a popular venue for weddings, smaller graduations, and pinning ceremonies. The broader campus preserves the original 1888–1889 Georgian Morrison mansion and Norman tower (1909), Walters Hall (the original carriage house), and a sequence of buildings added as Regis grew: St. Joseph Hall (dedicated 1946, completed 1947, originally for religious faculty) and the Regis College Library (completed 1955, designed by Sister Macrina, one of the first Regis librarians).
