About Queen of Angels · Jessup, Pennsylvania
Queen of Angels Parish is a Roman Catholic parish serving the small borough of Jessup in Lackawanna County, northeastern Pennsylvania. It was formed in 2010 by merging every Latin Rite Catholic parish in Jessup — St. James, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Mary of the Assumption, and St. Stanislaus — under a diocesan process called "Call to Holiness and Mission." The merged parish belongs to the Diocese of Scranton and continues to worship primarily at St. Michael Church on First Avenue. It is a compact, community-rooted parish led by Reverend Gerard M. McGlone and Deacon Gerard L. Carpenter, with daily and weekend Masses and a range of sacramental and formation ministries.

Why belong here
Queen of Angels is a welcoming, neighborhood-sized Catholic parish that brings together the historic faith communities of Jessup under one roof. Daily and weekend Masses, easy access to Reconciliation before Saturday Mass, a Faith Formation program that prepares children for First Communion and Confirmation, and sacramental support for baptisms, weddings, the anointing of the sick, and vocational discernment make it a one-stop parish home for Jessup-area Catholics. The pastor and deacon are directly reachable for pastoral needs, and the parish's modest size means real community involvement.

History and the 2010 Parish Merger
The parish is the product of a diocesan-wide effort called "Call to Holiness and Mission," a years-long study that led the Diocese of Scranton to consolidate parishes across northeastern Pennsylvania. In July 2010, every Latin Rite Catholic parish in Jessup was merged into the new Queen of Angels Parish. The Diocese of Scranton's consolidated parishes list shows that St. James Church and St. Mary's Assumption Church were consolidated in July 2010 and subsequently closed in 2012, while St. Stanislaus Kostka had been closed back in 1975. St. Michael Church, consolidated in July 2010, remains the parish's principal place of worship. The parish website notes that detailed histories of each former parish are still being prepared.
