Parish History
Our Lady Queen of Mercy was established in 1954 under Archbishop Thomas J. Toolen of Mobile to serve the growing southern part of Montgomery. Nine acres were purchased on Narrow Lane Road, and the church, hall, and rectory were built; the first Mass was celebrated at midnight on Christmas Eve, 1955, with the formal dedication on February 19, 1956. Major additions came in 1990 (daycare center) and 1994 (narthex, stained glass, Stations of the Cross, altar, ambo, and the perpetual adoration chapel). Archbishop Oscar Lipscomb rededicated the church in September 1995. In 2010, under Father Michael Sreboth, the parish completed further renovations to the roof, Marion Center, and sanctuary.
