About Our Lady Queen of Heaven

Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church is a bilingual parish of the Archdiocese of San Antonio located on Macdona-Lacoste Road in the small community of Macdona (Atascosa), southwest of San Antonio. Founded on December 12, 1994, the parish carries the motto 'We commit ourselves to know, to love & serve God by knowing & serving others.' It welcomes visitors warmly to come as they are to join in prayer and celebration, with Mass offered in both English and Spanish throughout the week.

History of the Parish

The parish was established on December 12, 1994, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, as a mission of the Archdiocese of San Antonio serving the historically rural, Hispanic community of Macdona along the Bexar–Atascosa county line. Over three decades it has grown from a small country congregation into a bilingual community offering daily and weekend Mass, OCIA, Faith Formation, youth ministry, and a roster of lay ministries.

Parish Leadership & Staff

The parish is led by its pastor, Fr. Jesús Camacho, with the assistance of Deacon Larry Contreras and a small lay staff. Daniela serves as parish secretary and can be reached at 210-890-2040, while Zoila handles bookkeeping and administrative support.

Faith Formation & Religious Education

Children's catechism meets every Wednesday evening at the parish hall, with K through 5th grade and First Communion classes from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM, followed by Confirmation preparation for 6th through 12th grade from 7:15 PM to 8:15 PM. Classes are available in English and Spanish.

Sacraments

The parish prepares Catholics for Baptism, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and adult initiation through OCIA, and offers Anointing of the Sick bilingually. Baptism classes are scheduled with Deacon Larry, First Communion requires birth and baptism certificates, and Confirmation involves a two-year preparation program.

Parish Ministries

Our Lady Queen of Heaven supports a wide range of lay-led ministries, giving every parishioner a way to serve. From the Saint Elizabeth Altar Society for women to the ACTS CORE retreat team, the youth ministry, the parish cemetery committee, and the distinctive Crusaders of Christ Motorcycle Ministry, there is room for every vocation and interest.
