Why belong here

Our Lady of Victory is a small, family-style rural parish in the heart of Perry County, served by dedicated Vincentian priests who also staff the larger St. Vincent de Paul parish in Perryville. Members belong to a six-parish Catholic family that shares faith formation, music ministry, RCIA, a parish school of religion, deacons, and outreach through one parish office — meaning a single small church in Sereno still offers the full sacramental life of the wider cluster. The parish welcomes new members through a simple membership form and a phone call to the Parish Center, and gathers for a single Sunday morning Mass at 10:00 am that anchors the week for the Sereno community.

Parish History

Our Lady of Victory was established in 1908 in the rural hamlet of Sereno, in Bois Brule Township of Perry County, Missouri. According to the Archdiocesan records summarized in the St. Louis County Library's Guide to St. Louis Catholic Archdiocesan Parish Records, some of its earliest members had previously worshipped at St. Boniface or Assumption churches in Perryville before the new parish was organized. Over time it consolidated three smaller communities: Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Belgique, Our Lady of the Rosary in Claryville (1903–1963), and St. John the Evangelist Mission in Lithium. The current church was built in 1997, replacing the earlier structure.
