Our Lady of the Rosary parish was established on October 7, 1927 (Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary) by Bishop John J. Cantwell of Los Angeles, and the present Mission Revival church was built and completed in 1928. When Pope Paul VI erected the Diocese of San Bernardino on July 14, 1978, the church was designated its cathedral. It serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino, which covers San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
