History
Catholic presence in Binger traces back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when Benedictine monks from Sacred Heart Abbey (later St. Gregory's Abbey, Shawnee) ran St. Patrick Mission in Anadarko as a hub serving the Kiowa, Comanche, Apache, and Caddo peoples of the region. According to Marquette University's Guide to Catholic Records about Native Americans, a station was opened at Binger in 1922 and was raised to mission status in 1928 under the name St. Margaret Mary Mission; pastoral responsibility passed to what became the Oklahoma City Archdiocese in 1949.
