Why belong here

Our Lady of the Presentation is a tight-knit country parish where lay families and clergy built the church together. Active parishioners lead a hospitality ministry, a music ministry, a school of religion with Confirmation preparation, a Walking with Purpose women's Bible study, and a men's group, while the parish shares sponsorship of Mary of Nazareth School with six neighboring Montgomery County parishes. Daily Mass is offered Monday through Saturday morning and two Sunday Masses provide flexibility, complemented by Saturday confessions and a Thursday evening Eucharistic Holy Hour, making it a faithful, family-friendly place for Catholics in upper Montgomery County.

History of Our Lady of the Presentation

Established in 1992 by the Archdiocese of Washington, Our Lady of the Presentation grew out of a Catholic mission that began in Poolesville a year earlier under Father Y. David Brault, who became its founding pastor. Cardinal James Hickey chose the name to complete the joyful mysteries of the rosary begun at Our Lady of Visitation in Darnestown. Pioneer parishioners worshipped at Poolesville Elementary School until they dedicated their own church on Tom Fox Avenue in 2001. The parish also helped found Mary of Nazareth School in 1994 alongside six other upper Montgomery County parishes.
