Why belong here
Our Lady of the Assumption is a small barrier-island mission with a single weekly Sunday Mass at 9:45 AM, perfect for residents and beach visitors who want a quiet, intimate worship experience on the Gulf Coast. Because it is tied to the larger St. Ann Catholic Parish in Gulf Breeze, parishioners benefit from the stability of an established parish while enjoying the unique character of a beach chapel. Seasonal services such as Ash Wednesday (a 6:00 PM Mass is held at the mission) make it a true spiritual home on the island throughout the liturgical year.

History and Heritage
The mission traces its roots to St. Ann Catholic Parish in Gulf Breeze, which began as a small summer-only chapel in 1949 after Bishop Thomas Joseph Toolen of Mobile approved the plan. As St. Ann grew into a formal parish in 1958, priests and parishioners opened a sister mission on Pensacola Beach — Our Lady of the Assumption — to serve Catholics on the barrier island. The mission has been closely tied to St. Ann ever since.
