Generations of Ukrainian immigrants and their descendants have worshipped at the church, maintaining the Byzantine liturgical tradition, the Ukrainian language, and Byzantine Catholic spirituality in Dearborn Heights. Geographically inside the territory of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit, the parish is canonically under the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Nicholas in Chicago, which in turn falls under the Ukrainian Catholic Metropolitan Archeparchy of Philadelphia.

Languages and Liturgical Heritage

Our Lady of Perpetual Help preserves the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic liturgical tradition. Sunday services are bilingual, conducted in both Ukrainian and English so that first-generation immigrants and English-speaking descendants can worship together. Weekday Liturgies are offered in the regular parish schedule, and the Saturday Liturgy is celebrated in Ukrainian at the request of the faithful.

Jurisdiction: Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Nicholas

Although the parish sits inside the territorial boundaries of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit, it is canonically a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Nicholas in Chicago. The Eparchy of St. Nicholas is a suffragan of the Ukrainian Catholic Metropolitan Archeparchy of Philadelphia, the main archeparchy for Ukrainian Greek-Catholics in the United States. This means that while local Roman Catholic institutions in the area (e.g., the AOD directory) also list the parish for convenience, its bishop is the Eparch of St. Nicholas.
