Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel is the Catholic chapel at the heart of Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio, in the Diocese of Youngstown. It is named for the patroness of the Brothers of Christian Instruction (F.I.C.), the religious congregation that founded Walsh in 1960. Opened in 2006 as Walsh's first freestanding chapel, it serves the spiritual life of the university community with daily Mass, two Sunday liturgies, weekday confession and Holy Hours, and a vibrant Campus Ministry program of retreats, discipleship groups, adoration, and service.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel is the Catholic chapel at the heart of Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. History of the Chapel and Walsh University
The chapel sits inside a much older story. The Brothers of Christian Instruction were founded on June 6, 1819, by Jean Marie de la Mennais and Gabriel Deshayes to educate the working class in France; they received papal approval in 1891. In 1958 Bishop Emmet Walsh of Youngstown gave the Brothers permission to found a college for men in the Canton area and donated $304,000 toward construction. On November 17, 1960, seven founding Brothers welcomed sixty-seven students to Walsh College at North Market and Easton in North Canton. The chapel itself opened in 2006 — Walsh's first freestanding chapel — and was named for the patroness of the F.I.C. In 2020 the F.I.C. announced they would no longer sponsor the university, and on February 3, 2021, Walsh became an independent Catholic university under the Bishop of Youngstown.

Campus Ministry
Inspired by the mission of the Brothers of Christian Instruction, Campus Ministry 'exists to build a vibrant Christian community that is grounded in the rich tradition and sacramental life of the Church and committed to evangelization, prayer, study, teaching and service.' Students of any and every religious background are invited to participate in retreats, small group communities, men's and women's fellowships, service opportunities, nights of worship, and mission trips. Campus Ministry offices are located in Connector 204, Menard/Betzler 243, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel 106.

Faith Formation and Retreats
Walsh's Campus Ministry places formation at the center of student life. Faith Formation Nights held each Tuesday invite students to grow in faith through engaging talks, discussions, and activities. The retreat program offers a full arc across the academic year — from brotherhood and reflection at the Men's Retreat to the Agape Fall Retreat centered on God's unconditional love, the Women's Retreat, and the Veritas ('truth') Spring Retreat that invites students to explore their relationship with God, themselves, and others.

Staff and Chaplaincy
OLPH Chapel is staffed by a chaplain and a small lay ministry team. Father Ryan Furlong serves as University Chaplain and is the primary contact for information about the chapel. He is supported by two coordinators who lead formation and sacramental ministry across campus.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help is the principal chapel, but Walsh offers two additional worship spaces so that prayer, reflection, and rest are available to students — not just Catholics — throughout the week.

Diocese of Youngstown
OLPH Chapel operates within the Diocese of Youngstown in northeastern Ohio. The Most Reverend David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown, has celebrated the diocesan Mass for Life at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel, and Walsh University itself became an independent Catholic university under the approval of the Local Ordinary for Youngstown on February 3, 2021.
