History of the Parish
Our Lady of Perpetual Help was established in 1920 to serve the Catholics of Danbury and the surrounding rural areas of Burnett County. Like many parishes in northwestern Wisconsin, it began as part of the broader Catholic missionary expansion into the cutover region under the Diocese of Superior. It was later clustered with the older Webster and Crescent Lake parishes into a 'Tri-Parish Family' that shares clergy, faith formation programs, and administration. Bishop James Powers of the Diocese of Superior (ordained 1990) counts a stint at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Danbury — alongside Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Crescent Lake, and St. John the Baptist, Webster — among his early priestly assignments, illustrating the way Tri-Parish priests traditionally rotate through the three small communities.
- 1920: Parish founded (per Diocese of Superior and GCatholic records).
- At some point the parish was linked into the 'Tri-Parish Family' with St. John the Baptist (Webster, 1880) and Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary (Crescent Lake, 1857).
- Bishop James Powers served at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Danbury before becoming Bishop of Superior.
