Our History
Our Lady of Peace was established in 1948 to minister to the growing Catholic population of North Augusta, an area that had drawn many Catholic families relocating from the Northeast. The founding pastor was an Irish immigrant priest, Fr. Murphy, who served the parish for more than 20 years and is remembered for helping settle the Irish Traveller families north of town — the community of Murphy Village is named in his honor. The parish has continued that legacy of pastoral care for nearly eight decades and today is a bilingual community of about 795 households.

Outreach and Community Ministry
