Our Lady of Peace Church is one of the worship sites of Saint Edmund Campion Parish, a Roman Catholic parish in East Hartford, Connecticut, within the Archdiocese of Hartford. The parish was formed on June 29, 2017, through the merger of the former parishes of Blessed Sacrament, Our Lady of Peace, and Saint Christopher, bringing together three historic East Hartford worship communities under a single canonical parish. The Our Lady of Peace church building sits at 370 May Road in East Hartford and continues to serve parishioners with regular Sunday and weekday Masses. As of July 1, 2024, Saint Edmund Campion Parish was further merged into the newly created North American Martyrs Parish, which unites it with the former North American Martyrs Parish (which itself encompasses Saint Rose, Saint Mary, Our Lady of Peace, and Saint Christopher churches).

About Saint Edmund Campion Parish
Saint Edmund Campion Parish is a Roman Catholic community in East Hartford, Connecticut, part of the Archdiocese of Hartford. Formed in 2017 by combining the parishes of Blessed Sacrament, Our Lady of Peace, and Saint Christopher, it has continued to serve East Hartford Catholics from multiple worship sites under a single pastoral team. In 2024, the parish was merged into the new North American Martyrs Parish alongside its sister parish, uniting all of East Hartford's Catholic parishes into one canonical entity while retaining the historic church buildings.
History of the Parish
The parish traces its canonical establishment to June 29, 2017, when Archbishop Leonard P. Blair formally created it through the merger of three existing East Hartford parishes under the Archdiocese's 'municipal model' of pastoral planning. In January 2024 the religious education programs of Saint Edmund Campion and North American Martyrs parishes were combined at the former Saint Rose School building, and in February 2024 the two pastors petitioned Archbishop Blair for a full canonical merger. After consultation with the Presbyteral Council on March 4, 2024, Archbishop Blair signed the decree merging the parishes effective July 1, 2024, into the new North American Martyrs Parish.
Worship Sites
Within the merged North American Martyrs Parish (which absorbed Saint Edmund Campion Parish in 2024), four historic church buildings are retained as sacred places of divine worship: Saint Rose Church, Saint Mary Church, Our Lady of Peace Church, and Saint Christopher Church. Of these, Saint Rose is retained without regularly scheduled Masses.

Ministries & Faith Formation
The parish supports Eucharistic Ministers, faith formation programs for children, a growing Spanish-language ministry, and youth ministry. In January 2024 the parish's religious education programs were combined with those of neighboring North American Martyrs Parish and relocated to the vacant Saint Rose School building. The parish pastors also hoped to bring youth together through combined learning, service projects, and team-building activities.

The Patron: Saint Edmund Campion
The parish takes its name from Saint Edmund Campion (1540–1581), an English Jesuit priest who was martyred at Tyburn on December 1, 1581. He is honored as one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales.

Merger Into North American Martyrs Parish (2024)
On July 1, 2024, Saint Edmund Campion Parish was formally merged into the new North American Martyrs Parish by decree of Archbishop Leonard P. Blair, following a petition by the two parish pastors in February 2024 and consultation with the Presbyteral Council in March 2024. The merged parish retains the four church buildings, with Our Lady of Peace Church and Saint Christopher Church continuing as active worship sites. Sacramental registers, historical documents, assets, and liabilities of the former Saint Edmund Campion Parish are preserved within the new entity.
