Our Lady of Mt. Carmel is the parish church in Moriarty, New Mexico that serves as the central worship site and administrative home of Estancia Valley Catholic Parish (EVCP). The parish itself is a unique multi-church community of four distinct congregations — Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Moriarty, Sts. Peter and Paul in Estancia, San Antonio in Tajique, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Edgewood — united as one parish and served from the Parish Office next to the Moriarty church. Worshippers are warmly welcomed at the Saturday Vigil, Sunday morning Mass, three weekday Masses, Friday morning Eucharistic Adoration, and Saturday Reconciliation — and they can join an unusually rich set of lay-led ministries, from Sacristans and Lectors to a developing Mataches/Matachines devotion, a Seven Sisters Holy Hour apostolate for the priests, the Knights of Columbus, and a new Bible Study. Because the church sits at the center of Estancia Valley Catholic Parish, parishioners here are part of a wider four-church family that supports one another through annual Fiestas, Vesper services, and shared ministry.

About Estancia Valley Catholic Parish
Estancia Valley Catholic Parish (EVCP) is a single Catholic parish made up of four distinct churches spread across the Estancia Valley southeast of Albuquerque: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Moriarty, Sts. Peter and Paul in Estancia, San Antonio in Tajique, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Edgewood. The parish falls under the care of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Though each church maintains its own identity and worshipping community, they share pastors, staff, and ministries. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel — Moriarty's Parish Church
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel is described on the parish site as the third oldest of the four churches of Estancia Valley Catholic Parish. Located in Moriarty, NM, the church sits next to the Parish Office and to the Rectory, which was built in the late 1980s — after which the pastors moved from Estancia into Moriarty. The Moriarty church hosts the Vigil Mass, a Sunday morning Mass, three weekly weekday Masses, Friday morning Eucharistic Adoration, and the parish's principal Saturday Reconciliation schedule. The annual Fiesta in honor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel is celebrated here each year near the July 16 feast.

The Four Churches of the Parish
Estancia Valley Catholic Parish is structured around four churches, each rooted in a different community within the valley. Their combined story gives the parish its distinctive multi-church character.
- Sts. Peter and Paul, Estancia — the oldest of the four; the first parish rectory was located in Estancia.
- Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Moriarty — the third oldest, and today the operational center with the Parish Office and Rectory.
- San Antonio, Tajique — Mass celebrated every Sunday at 9:30 a.m.; Tajique was established in the early 1600s and was the seat of the San Miguel Mission, the first Spanish settlement in the Manzano Mountain foothills.
- St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Edgewood — the newest church, built by local parishioners from the late 1980s and finished in the early 1990s.

Sacramental life at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel includes Reconciliation (Confession) on Saturday afternoons, and preparation for the other sacraments is coordinated through the Parish Office. The parish notes Confession is also available by appointment.

The parish is served by ordained clergy resident at the Moriarty rectory, a deacon, and lay office staff.
- Rev. Angelo Marquez — Pastor. Born in Gallup, NM; raised in Rio Rancho. Studied philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville; ordained in 2016; previous posts in Clovis and Arroyo Seco, NM. Also serves as Director of Ongoing Formation of Priests for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.

Mayordomo System
The parish has implemented a Mayordomo System modeled on traditional Hispanic parish leadership: a mayordomo, or couple, is assigned to each church (with a designated communications lead at San Antonio, Tajique). Each Mayordomo coordinates the lay-led ministries for their local community.

Seven Sisters Apostolate
Seven Sisters is a lay apostolate whose mission is to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of the parish's priests. A 'Sister' commits to pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament on a fixed day of the week for either Fr. Angelo (Pastor), Fr. Emmanuel (Parochial Vicar), or Fr. Christopher Bernabe (Priest in Residence). The hour can be prayed at any time, in any church on the assigned day; homebound participants may join a livestream Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
Seminary & Formation
The parish hosts seminarians from the Archdiocese of Santa Fe as part of its ongoing formation life and currently welcomes Robert Kelly, a seminarian from Mora, NM, who is working on a Bible Study for parishioners.
- Robert Kelly — born and raised in Mora, NM; homeschooled; associates in mathematics from Luna Community College (Las Vegas, NM); in priestly formation for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe; converted to Catholicism in adoration at age fourteen; anticipates ordination in spring 2029.
- Fr. Angelo Marquez also serves as Director of Ongoing Formation of Priests for the Archdiocese.
Fiestas & Parish Celebrations
Each of the four parish churches celebrates an annual Fiesta in honor of its patron. The Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Fiesta near the July 16 feast draws 250+ parishioners and friends for a full weekend of Vespers, Mass, procession, communal meals, bingo, a Cake Walk, a Cornhole Tournament, and family games. The parish hall next to the church is the gathering place for these celebrations.
