Originally founded by a group of Catholics who purchased a lot from the Presbyterian Church, the parish began holding Mass in a private home before acquiring its first church building in 1892. Over the decades, it has grown and evolved, moving through three dioceses and building a new church in 1959. A Brief History
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman, Texas, was founded in 1890 by a group of Catholics who purchased land from the Presbyterian Church. Masses were initially held in the Callan family home before the parish acquired its first church building in 1892. The current church was built in 1958 and dedicated in 1962. The parish has been part of three dioceses: Dallas (1890–1947), Austin (1947–1961), and San Angelo (1961–present).
