History
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish was established in 1979 when the Diocese of Sacramento carved the new Fairfield parish out of Holy Spirit Parish. It was the final parish created by Bishop Alden J. Bell before his retirement. The Carmelites were invited to staff and develop the parish, with Rev. John E. Hertel, O. Carm., as founding pastor and Rev. Joel Moelter, O. Carm., as parochial vicar.
Sacraments & Faith Formation
The parish provides the full range of Catholic sacraments and preparation programs, including Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Anointing of the Sick, Funerals, Holy Orders, OCIA, and Quinceañeras. Faith formation is offered for youth and adults.
