Why belong here
Our Lady of Lourdes is a welcoming bilingual parish where Vietnamese and English-speaking Catholics worship side by side. It offers daily and weekend Masses (with the Sunday 10:30 am Vietnamese Mass livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube), a vibrant choir tradition with four choirs, a Legion of Mary group, Holy Spirit Society, Fatima Apostles, Catholic Mothers Society, Heads of Household, TNTT (Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể) youth group, and regular Adoration and Anointing of the Sick on First Fridays. For Catholics in South Seattle — especially the Vietnamese-American community — it is a long-standing spiritual home with deep roots going back to the 1890s.

Parish History
Our Lady of Lourdes grew out of a Catholic school established in the 1890s in South Park by two Belgian Brothers from the Congregation of Notre-Dame de Lourdes (C.N.D.L.), the only American foundation of that Belgian congregation. The Brothers ran a house of studies and a boarding and day school for boys on 12th Avenue South, and by about 1912 the parish's Our Lady of Lourdes Academy was in operation at the corner of 12th Avenue South and South Trenton Street, continuing until roughly 1921. In 1958 a portion of the parish's territory, together with parts of Holy Family and St. Francis of Assisi, was split off to form the Parish of St. Bernadette under Archbishop Thomas A. Connolly. The parish today carries on the work those Belgian brothers began more than a century ago.
