Parish Identity & Cluster History

Our Lady of Lourdes was founded in 1928 and Saint Anne Church in 1930; the two parishes formally clustered in 2008 as part of the Diocese of Rochester's Pastoral Planning Process. Clustering was designed to strengthen both parishes through shared personnel and resources, and to allow them to grow together in discipleship and vitality while preserving the distinct character of each worship site.

Worship Schedule at Our Lady of Lourdes

OLOL offers a Saturday Vigil Mass and a Sunday morning Mass in English, along with a Sunday Lithuanian Mass for the St. George Lithuanian community. Weekday Masses are celebrated Monday through Friday mornings, with Wednesday taking the form of a Communion Service.

Cluster-Wide Worship (Saint Anne Site)

The Saturday Vigil at 4:00 PM and Sunday 11:00 AM Mass at Saint Anne complete the cluster's weekend schedule. A Korean-language Mass is celebrated at St. Anne on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month at 3:00 PM, serving Rochester's Korean Catholic community.

The cluster is led by Pastor Rev. Gary Tyman and includes an assistant priest and a resident priest, plus a permanent deacon serving as pastoral associate and parish office manager. Lay staff and ministry coordinators handle faith formation, youth ministry, music, and visitation across both parishes.

Faith Formation, Youth Ministry & RCIA

The cluster operates a combined Brighton Faith Formation program out of Our Lady Queen of Peace and supports a dedicated youth ministry led by Nora Bradbury-Haehl. Adults seeking to become Catholic participate in the eight-month Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) process, coordinated by Mary Ann Obark.

Liturgical Ministries & Parish Life

Parishioners are invited to serve as liturgical ministers at Mass — as sacristans, ushers, Eucharistic ministers, or lectors — with all training provided. The parish also gathers monthly for Coffee Hour after the 9:30 AM Sunday Mass, and the OLOL+St. Anne cluster sustains a strong Habitat for Humanity volunteer program with 67 participants and counting.

Seton Catholic School

Our Lady of Lourdes opened its parish school in 1948; today it continues as Seton Catholic School, a Pre-K through Grade 6 Catholic school on Rhinecliff Drive that is co-sponsored by the OLOL+St. Anne cluster. The school offers an extended school day from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, an integrated technology curriculum, on-site security, and extracurriculars including Theater Arts, Sports Clubs, Spanish Club, CYO Sports Teams, and Chess Club.

Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Anne are home to several distinct language communities within the Diocese of Rochester, reflecting the cluster's identity as a diverse Roman Catholic faith community.

Devotions & Special Services

Beyond the regular Sunday and weekday Mass schedule, the cluster sustains distinctive devotional life — including the annual Saint Anne Novena, a nine-evening prayer in preparation for the Feast of St. Anne on July 26.

Sacraments

The cluster coordinates preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation and other rites through its staff and RCIA program, with inquiries handled through the cluster office or the appropriate parish secretary.

Cluster Vision Statement

The cluster articulates its mission as building on the strengths, diversity and traditions of its worship sites so that parishioners are 'a dynamic Roman Catholic faith community actively engaged in bringing God's life to all.' The community commits to being welcoming, open, joyful, non-judgmental and healing, and to taking responsibility — personal and financial — for the life of the parish and the care of its resources.
