Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church is a historic parish in the Hanscom Park neighborhood of mid-town Omaha, Nebraska, founded in 1918 by Archbishop Jeremiah J. Harty to serve the growing Catholic community on the city's south side. In July 2014, under Archbishop George J. Lucas, the parish merged with neighboring St. Adalbert Church (founded 1916) to form Our Lady of Lourdes–St. Adalbert Parish, while the parish also shepherds the Korean-speaking St. Andrew Kim Taegon Catholic Community, which shares the St. Adalbert worship site. The parish runs Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School (PreK–8) as part of the Omaha Catholic School Consortium, offers daily Mass in English plus a Sunday Korean Mass, and is well known locally for its perpetual Eucharistic Adoration chapel. The current pastor, Rev. Vitalis E. Anyanike, has served the parish since July 1, 2021.

Our Story & History
Our Lady of Lourdes Church was founded in 1918 by Archbishop Jeremiah J. Harty in Omaha's Hanscom Park neighborhood, just two years after neighboring St. Adalbert Church (1916) was established. For more than 100 years the two parishes have served as anchors of Catholic life in mid-town Omaha, educating over 4,000 students through their parish schools and forming generations of families. In July 2014, Archbishop George J. Lucas merged the two parishes into a single entity — Our Lady of Lourdes–St. Adalbert Parish — while preserving each church's worship life. The 2018 centennial of Our Lady of Lourdes was marked with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Lucas at the parish, followed by a dinner at the Livestock Exchange Ballroom.

Pastor & Staff
Father Vitalis Ejike Anyanike became pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes–St. Adalbert Parish on July 1, 2021. He was born to Ignatius and Virginia Anyanike, a Nigerian family who relocated to the United States, and pursued a vocation to the Catholic priesthood under the sponsorship of the Archdiocese of Omaha. He also serves the Korean-speaking St. Andrew Kim Taegon Catholic Community. The parish is assisted by Deacon Robert Pickett and Deacon Francis P. Hilt, and supported by an Office Manager / Parish Secretary, a Bookkeeper, and a pastoral staff that handles home visits and parish operations.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, located at 2124 S 32nd Ave in the Hanscom Park neighborhood, has been a Catholic educational institution in mid-town Omaha for generations. In 2013 it joined the Omaha Catholic School Consortium (OCSC), which provides academic, administrative, and financial support to its member schools. The school serves preschool through 8th grade and follows the four-fold mission of Catholic education: proclaiming the message of faith, fostering community, encouraging worship and prayer, and motivating service to others. The parish supports the school through the OLL Booster Club, school and community service activities, and the pastor's direct involvement — including daily Mass with students and sacramental preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. The OCSC also runs a Dual Language Academy for PreK–1st grade that pairs native English and native Spanish speakers as language models for one another.

Religious Education & Sacramental Preparation
The parish's Religious Education program offers a youth faith-formation track for grades K–8, with classes held Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Grades K–6 use the Sophia Press 'Spirit of Truth' curriculum, while 7th and 8th graders prepare specifically for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which is received in the spring of their 8th-grade year. The pastor conducts faith formation with school students through daily Mass and in preparation for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation, and also coordinates supplemental support to school families as needed. The HOPE parish scrip fundraising program helps cover sacramental-year fees.

St. Andrew Kim Taegon Korean Catholic Community
The parish also shepherds the St. Andrew Kim Taegon Catholic Community, Omaha's Korean Catholic community, which uses the St. Adalbert church building at 2617 S 31st St for worship. A Korean-language Mass is celebrated on Sundays at 11:30 am. The community is pastored by Father Vitalis Anyanike and, per the Archdiocese of Omaha directory, assisted by Rev. Jaehwa Lee as Administrator.

The parish's stated mission is to be 'a faith filled community that shares in the Mission of Jesus through our baptism and through our commitment to His Gospel values by witnessing our faith, worshiping and giving thanks together in the Catholic tradition, and providing Christ-centered educational opportunities through our School and other Pastoral Services.'
