History
Our Lady of Lourdes was established in 1923 to serve the Catholic families of the Beulah mountain valley. The mission was placed under the care of St. Francis Xavier Church in Pueblo, a relationship that continues today. The road on which the church sits — Maryknoll Boulevard — reflects the area's Catholic missionary heritage and the widespread devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes that the parish's name celebrates.

Prayer Garden, Grotto and Stations of the Cross
Behind the church, visitors are invited to enjoy a prayer garden featuring a Grotto and Stations of the Cross in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette. The Beulah-area naming and devotions echo the wider Maryknoll tradition of building Lourdes grottos across the United States — the most famous being the Lourdes Grotto at the Maryknoll Sisters' Motherhouse, built in the 1930s-40s by Japanese-American stone mason Ryozo Fuso Kado.

Our Lady of Lourdes is one of many parishes and missions in the Diocese of Pueblo, a Latin (Roman) rite diocese in southern Colorado. The diocese was erected on November 15, 1941 by Pope Pius XII from territory separated from the Archdiocese of Denver, with the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pueblo as its seat.
