Our Lady of Lourdes is a Roman Catholic parish in southeast Denver, Colorado, founded in 1947 and now home to more than 1,200 parishioners. The parish sits on a wooded, one-block campus at 2298 South Logan Street and is known for its 52-foot stone grotto built in imitation of the shrine at Lourdes, France. The community gathers for Mass seven days a week, runs a K-8 classical school, maintains an active adoration chapel, and serves the wider Denver area through ministries that include youth outreach, prison ministry, and a partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build beds for children in need.

Our History
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church traces its origins to 1947, when its first Masses were celebrated in the gymnasium of the State Home for Children at East Iliff Avenue and South Logan Street. The parish's story is inseparable from its 52-foot stone grotto and the 220 volunteer 'Rocks of Lourdes' who built it — a project that set the tone of lay-led, family-built community that still defines Lourdes today. From a basement church hosting 1,650 people at its first Christmas Mass, to the rededication of the renovated church in August 2019, the parish has steadily grown while preserving its wooded, grotto-centered campus.
- 1947: Parish founded by Father Damen L. McCaddon; first Masses in the State Home for Children gymnasium.
- The 'Rocks of Lourdes' — 220 volunteers — built the 52-foot stone grotto and outdoor altar.
- June 3, 1948: Groundbreaking on the $150,000 church and school combination building.
- December 16, 1948: Archbishop Vehr dedicated the basement church, library, and offices; 1,650+ at the first Christmas Mass.
- 1952: New school wing completed on the north side of the church.
- 1954: Seven nuns teaching 384 pupils in eight grades.
- 1955: Sisters' convent completed on campus.
- May 16, 1965: Archbishop Vehr dedicated the buff brick, neo-Romanesque church designed by John K. Monroe.
- Father McCaddon retired in 1966; subsequent pastors include Robert E. Kekeisen, Robert M. Harrington, Joseph Lievens, and George L. Weibel (from 1985).
- June 2022: 75th anniversary Jubilee Celebration featuring the relics of St. Bernadette.
- August 2019: Church rededicated after a year of major renovations.
Parish Staff & Clergy
The parish is currently led by Father Sean Conroy, who was installed as pastor on August 16, and is assisted by Father Zach (parochial vicar), Father Mike Rapp (Theologian in Residence), and Deacons Michael Baird and Darell Nepil. Mass & Sacrament Schedule
Our Lady of Lourdes offers Mass every day except Monday, with four Sunday Masses and a Saturday Vigil. Confession is available five days a week, and Eucharistic Adoration is a centerpiece of parish life, with a full Wednesday Adoration Chapel and a Friday morning Men's Holy Hour.

Our Lady of Lourdes Classical School
Lourdes has educated children on this campus since the basement school opened in late 1948 with the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration. Today the parish school operates across two campuses as the only classical school in Denver — a Montessori Pre-K plus a K-8 classical curriculum, with a separate South Campus.

Faith Formation & RCIA
The parish welcomes adults seeking to become Catholic, learn more about their faith, or receive the Sacrament of Confirmation through its RCIA program. Classes are taught by the pastor (historically by Father Brian Larkin) and meet on Wednesday evenings in the school gym.

Music & Liturgy
Sacred music is a particular point of pride at Lourdes. The Lourdes Schola is a sacred music ensemble that serves the 8:00 AM Sunday Mass and is dedicated to Gregorian chant, traditional hymns, and sacred polyphony. Auditions are by appointment.

Beyond its walls, Lourdes is active in service to the wider Denver community. Recent and ongoing outreach includes a partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build beds for children in the Denver Metro area, and the parish's own deacon coordinates Jail and Prison Ministry for the Archdiocese of Denver.
