Our Lady of La Salette is a Roman Catholic mission church in Kirbyville, Texas, part of the Diocese of Beaumont. It is one of three mission communities served by the parish of St. Michael in Jasper, alongside St. Raymond's Mission in Sam Rayburn and the Toledo Village Community Center. The mission is named for the famous 1846 Marian apparition at La Salette-Fallavaux, France, and was established in 1948 to bring the sacraments to Catholics in rural Jasper County. Overview

Our Lady of La Salette Mission is a Roman Catholic mission church in Kirbyville, Texas, in the Diocese of Beaumont. Patron and Feast

The mission is named for Our Lady of La Salette, in honor of the Marian apparition reported on 19 September 1846 at La Salette-Fallavaux, France. The weeping Virgin appeared to two young shepherds, Mélanie Calvat (nearly 15) and Maximin Giraud (11), and called them to deliver a message of repentance to 'all her people.' Bishop Philibert de Bruillard of Grenoble formally approved the apparition on 19 September 1851, and the feast of Our Lady of La Salette is observed annually on September 19 throughout the universal Church.
