Mission Heritage in Nacogdoches
The Catholic faith in Nacogdoches was brought to the area by the Franciscan missionary Fr. Antonio Margil, who founded the original ministry in 1716. Our Lady of Guadalupe continues that missionary tradition as a Hispanic ministry under Sacred Heart parish in the Diocese of Tyler.

Liturgy and Schedule
The mission celebrates Mass in English and Spanish throughout the week. Weekend Masses are held Saturday evening and twice on Sunday morning, with additional weekday Masses Monday through Friday. Confessions are heard four evenings a week, and the Blessed Sacrament is adored on Wednesday evenings and through the night on First Fridays.
Parish Life and Community Events
The mission is a focal point of Hispanic Catholic life in Nacogdoches. In September 2021, the community marked Mexico's Independence Day with a cavalcade, traditional dances, dancing horses, music, games for children, food, and a fundraising festival. Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler rode in the cavalcade on horseback carrying a Vatican flag and blessed the groundbreaking of new facilities.
