Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish in Macedonia, Ohio, in the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, serving the Nordonia Hills community of southeast Cuyahoga County. Founded in 1967 under the patronage of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, the parish is a faith community centered on prayer and the Eucharist, with a current roll of nearly 1,400 families. It offers weekend and daily Mass, perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in its chapel, a Parish School of Religion (PSR), an active youth ministry called ALTARED, and outreach through its Ministry for Those in Need and the Knights of Columbus.

Children and teens are served by a Parish School of Religion preparing them for Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation, plus the ALTARED youth ministry for grades 7–12, and adults can grow through OCIA, parish organizations like the Knights of Columbus, and outreach with the Ministry for Those in Need (blanket drives, Advent Giving Tree, school supplies, and volunteering at the Ozanam Center).

Parish History
Founded October 7, 1967 by Bishop Clarence G. Issenmann on thirteen acres of farmland on Shepard Road, Our Lady of Guadalupe was the answer to a need identified by Fr. Lloyd Boymer during a street-by-street census of Macedonia's 503 Catholic families. The parish first gathered for Mass in Ledgeview Elementary School on October 8, 1967; ground was broken for the church in August 1968; the first Mass was celebrated in the new worship space on August 15, 1969 (Feast of the Assumption); and the building was formally dedicated on October 7, 1969 — exactly two years after the parish was established. Growth in the 1970s led to a major addition in 1979 (the Juan Diego Room and chapel), a 1994 worship-space expansion, and a 9,000 sq. ft. social-space addition dedicated by Bishop Martin J. Amos in 2001. The parish marked its 50th anniversary in 2017 with nearly 1,400 families — and continues to grow today.

Faith Formation — Parish School of Religion (PSR)
The Parish School of Religion (PSR) builds faith, teaches Catholic beliefs, prepares youth for the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation, encourages good values and decision-making, connects children to the parish community, and helps families stay involved. The 2026/27 PSR year begins September 13–14, 2026. K through Grade 2 meet Sundays 9:30–10:30 AM; Grades 3–7 meet Mondays 6:30–7:45 PM; and Grades 8–9 Confirmation class meets Sunday evenings. Family fees are on a sliding scale ($60/$110/$150) with an additional $30 sacramental fee for First Communion and Confirmation; scholarships are available so no family is excluded.

ALTARED Youth Ministry
ALTARED is OLG's youth ministry for teens in grades 7–12 who want to grow in their Catholic faith, build meaningful friendships, and get involved in the parish and wider community. Built around three pillars — Fellowship (authentic friendships in a fun, welcoming environment), Serve (living out the Gospel through acts of service in the parish and community), and Pray (deepening a relationship with Jesus Christ) — ALTARED plans retreats, service projects, and prayer experiences. The program also keeps an active Instagram (@olg_altared) for event reminders and photos.

OCIA — Becoming Catholic

Ministry for Those in Need (MFTIN)
OLG's Ministry for Those in Need is an organization of Catholic lay people dedicated to living out Christ's Gospel message of love by assisting the needy in the parish and community through personal service, comfort, friendship, and financial assistance. The confidentiality of recipients is strictly protected. Beyond direct assistance, the group sponsors Blanket Sunday, the Advent Giving Tree, Blessing Bags, the School Supply Drive, and other events, and regularly volunteers at the Ozanam Center (a local food, clothing, and furniture bank).

Knights of Columbus
Knights of Columbus Council #11831 was formed on July 1, 1996 and serves the parishes of Ss. Cosmas & Damian and Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Council meets at 7:30 PM on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 9080 Shepard Rd., Macedonia, and welcomes new members through New Membership Director Randy Miller.

Music & Liturgy
Liturgical music at OLG is coordinated by Director of Music Ministry Donald Grabowy. The parish livestreams its principal Masses — Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at 12:00 PM and Sunday at 10:30 AM — from the church for parishioners who are homebound or traveling.
