Church History
Our Lady of Guadalupe traces its roots to the late 1970s, when southeast Lubbock's growing Catholic population needed its own parish home. A former Assembly of God building at 915 42nd Street was purchased and remodeled by volunteers, and dedicated in June 1979 before the parish was formally established in June 1980. The arrival of Interstate construction displaced the original chapel in 1984, prompting the purchase of new land and the construction of the present church, dedicated September 21, 1986 under Monsignor Antonio Gonzalez. The Parish Education Center followed in 2000.
