Mission San Miguel, located in San Miguel, California, is a historic National and State Historical Landmark founded in 1797 by Franciscan Father Fermín Francisco de Lasuen. It served as a vital center of Spanish colonial life and religious mission work, with its original adobe church completed in 1821. After secularization in 1834 and decades of abandonment and repurposing, the mission was returned to the Catholic Church in 1859 and has been continuously administered by Franciscan Friars since 1928. Today, it remains an active parish and museum, preserving its original frescoes and architecture while offering bilingual Masses, sacraments, and community ministries.

History
Mission San Miguel, founded in 1797 by Franciscan Father Fermín Francisco de Lasuen, was established to connect Mission San Antonio and Mission San Luis Obispo. After secularization in 1834, the mission was abandoned and later repurposed as commercial buildings. Returned to the Catholic Church in 1859, it became a parish in 1878. After the 2003 San Simeon earthquake, a major restoration project began, culminating in the reopening of the church and museum in 2009. The mission remains under Franciscan administration and is a living parish today.
Ministries
The parish offers sacraments including Baptism, First Communion, and Marriage. Child Baptism preparation is available in English and Spanish, with classes and ceremonies scheduled by appointment. The parish also maintains a gift shop, museum, and restoration project, and offers bilingual Masses and community services.
