Our Lady of Czestochowa Polish Catholic Mission is a Polish-language Roman Catholic mission parish serving Polish immigrants and their families in Pompano Beach, Florida, in the Archdiocese of Miami. Established in 1983, it ministers to roughly 1,500 parishioners for whom it is a spiritual home, with all religious and social celebrations conducted in Polish. The parish is staffed by the Society of Christ (Towarzystwo Chrystusowe), a religious community dedicated to the pastoral care of Poles living abroad, and it reaches beyond Pompano Beach with Polish Masses also celebrated at Holy Spirit Church in Lantana, St. Joseph in Miami Beach, and the Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea in Key West.

Why belong here
Our Lady of Czestochowa is the spiritual home of the Polish Catholic community across south Florida, gathering about 1,500 faithful for worship entirely in Polish. Families who join can worship in their own language and heritage, educate their children in Polish language, history, and culture through the parish's Saturday Polish school (Szkoła Polska im. św. Jadwigi Królowej), and take part in ministries such as altar servers, lectors, the Living Rosary Circle, God's Children Oasis, and a seniors group. The mission also extends its reach beyond Pompano Beach with Polish Masses at Holy Spirit in Lantana, St. Joseph on Miami Beach, and St. Mary Star of the Sea in Key West.

History of Our Lady of Czestochowa
Our Lady of Czestochowa Mission was established in 1983 to serve Polish immigrants in the Pompano Beach area of south Florida. Before the mission, Polish Catholics in the region gathered for Mass in their language at other parishes, including Saint Joseph in Miami and Nativity in Hollywood. The community saved up and purchased the former First Church of Christ, Scientist building; under pastor Father Jan Fiedurek the structure was adapted for Catholic worship and rededicated in 1997. Over time, parishioners added a rectory, a parish center, and a new organ.

Patron: Our Lady of Czestochowa
The parish takes its name from the Black Madonna of Częstochowa, the beloved Marian icon venerated at the Jasna Góra monastery in Częstochowa, Poland. The feast of Our Lady of Czestochowa is celebrated on August 26, and devotion to her is at the heart of Polish Catholic identity worldwide.

Parish Leadership and Clergy
The mission has long been served by priests of the Society of Christ (Towarzystwo Chrystusowe), a religious community devoted to the pastoral care of Poles living abroad. Father Stanislaw Rakiej, SChr., was named pastor on September 1, 2015 and served until January 1, 2021; he died of pancreatic cancer on February 27, 2021, at age 71. Father Hubert Zasada, SChr., assumed the role of pastor after Father Rakiej's death. Effective September 1, 2025, Archbishop Thomas Wenski appointed Father Krzysztof Janicki, SChr., as parochial administrator of the mission.

Parish Ministries and Groups
The mission supports a tight-knit community of about 1,500 Polish faithful through several lay ministries and groups. These include altar servers, lectors, the Living Rosary Circle, God's Children Oasis, and a seniors group. Ministry in Polish language and tradition is the unifying thread across all of these groups.

Saturday Polish School (Szkoła Polska im. św. Jadwigi Królowej)
The mission runs a Saturday Polish-language school named after Saint Hedwig the Queen (św. Jadwiga Królowa), giving children of the parish and the wider Polish community a place to learn Polish language, history, and culture. Outreach Beyond Pompano Beach
Because it is a personal (national) mission rather than a territorial parish, Our Lady of Czestochowa extends Polish Catholic ministry across south Florida. In addition to the main church in Pompano Beach, the mission celebrates regular Polish Masses at Holy Spirit Church in Lantana (Saturday Vigil), St. Joseph on Miami Beach (Sunday afternoon), and the Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea in Key West (second Tuesday of the month).
