Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church is a bilingual (English and Spanish) Roman Catholic parish in Hermiston, Oregon, part of the Diocese of Baker. The parish serves a growing community in eastern Oregon's Umatilla County, currently seating 850 people after a major 2007 expansion of its nave. Parish History
Our Lady of Angels traces its roots to the turn of the 20th century, when the Irish Province of the Capuchin Fathers arrived in the Diocese of Baker and in Hermiston. In 1910 the parish acquired property on Orchard and 7th Street and built a two-story structure that served as both rectory and church. In 1920, that building was hauled — with plow horses, logs, and the hard work of parish families — to its present site on W. Hermiston Avenue.

- 1924: 'New' church completed, seating 120
- 1927: Church dedicated by Bishop Joseph McGrath — first consecration in the Diocese of Baker
- 1953: Parish Hall built by volunteers
- 1956: Last Mass in the 'Little Church' — building burned into its basement to honor its consecration; remains buried under the current church
- 1964: Four new classrooms added for religious education
- 1988: Addition and remodel of the 1956 church completed
- 2002: Capital campaign launched to enlarge the nave
- 2007: Nave expansion completed — seating capacity raised from 300 to 850

Faith Formation & Sacramental Preparation
Faith formation is presented as a lifelong Catholic calling. The parish's formal Sacramental Preparation for students ages 7–18 is a two-year process covering First Confession, First Eucharist, and Confirmation. Materials are delivered online so students can work at home, with assignments turned in monthly and additional Year 2 requirements (memorized prayers, monthly classes, Mass attendance) before receiving the sacraments.

Youth ministry at Our Lady of Angels is led by a husband-and-wife team and is integrated with the parish's broader faith formation programs, sacramental preparation, and family catechesis.
